Allen Williams, local non-profit Director, was inducted into the University of North Alabama Athletic Hall of Fame on September 24, 2011. Williams was a two-year starting guard on University of North Alabama teams in 1990 and 1991. He helped lead the UNA Lions to an NCAA Division II National Championship title in The team finished that year with a 29-4 record. He led the team in scoring (517) and assists (177), was selected to the
All-Gulf South Conference team and to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament team in 1990-91. As a senior he averaged 16.2 points per game and is one of just 13 players in UNA history to score more than 500 points in a season.
Ties to Tampa Bay
A native of Clearwater, Florida, Allen Williams played locally for Clearwater High School in the late 80’s. He also played professionally over a four-year span in Germany, the Dominican Republic, and the United
States. After his travel career, he returned to his home town, started a family, and found a way to give
back to the community.
The Basketball Warehouse
Earlier this year, Allen Williams, along with co-Director Daryl Blume, established The Basketball Warehouse (TBW). The Basketball Warehouse, a non-profit organization that provides a place for kids to play basketball, gets extra help in their classroom studies, and to do their homework after school.
TBW provides tailored training programs that center around basketball to satisfy each student/athlete’s
individual needs in a positive, encouraging environment. By incorporating advanced state-of-the-art
basketball training and educational tutoring provided by mentors for children from diverse backgrounds.
